Montreal, May 31, 2021 – B2BQuotes now rebranded as helloDarwin, has closed a $2 million Seed round led by Tactico Venture Capital and RBC as well as the continued participation of Real Ventures and angel investors including Nicolas Bouchard and Julie Lacasse.
The funding will propel helloDarwin’s continued evolution as a business matchmaking platform that brings together clients looking for services (digital transformation, web development, digital marketing, marketing strategy, CRM/ERP, app development, accounting services and HR) and service providers (agencies and freelancers).
“Our sustained YOY growth and interest from investors demonstrate our proof of concept is on the right track,” said Plante. “Getting onboard with RBC and Tactico enables us to further expand our business to more markets, strengthen our platform technology and grow our service provider base to match increased requests for projects, as we become the one-stop-shop for B2B services.”
Founded in 2017, helloDarwin has a roster of close to 4,500 service providers and has matched them with more than 6,200 client projects with a value exceeding $65 million. In 2020, helloDarwin completed three renowned Canadian accelerators including NextAI Montreal, FounderFuel and DMZ Ryerson.
“helloDarwin has found a formula that improves trust and confidence of both buyers and sellers in the complex marketplace of B2B services,“ said Plante. “We combine the technology and personalized account management that elevates the success of outsourcing projects on a variety of opportunities.”
“Tactico is committed to investing in innovative Canadian companies who are using technology to make complex processes more accessible,” said Liam Cheung, Tactico Partner. “Clearly, helloDarwin’s has created an effective platform that does just that for B2B companies seeking to connect with service providers.”
“We’re always looking to work with start-ups that can help our community of business clients to grow and succeed,” said Alison Chick, Head of B2B and Health, RBC Ventures. “After reviewing business matchmaking platforms and expert marketplaces, we concluded that helloDarwin would be ideal in terms of providing our clients with the expertise and trusted help on a wide range of critical business functions, and this investment will help the platform scale.”
Meet helloDarwin
“helloDarwin is a unique combination of our human approach and the technology that supports our adaptation to this changing world and that of companies,” according to Alex Vanier. “We aim to establish ourselves as the reference platform for all B2B needs while keeping the human element at the heart of our interactions.”
“As a brand, helloDarwin represents our people and our technology,” said Plante. “The world is in constant evolution and we can help businesses adapt and we want to ensure that businesses can easily choose the right service provider for their needs.”
Both clients and service providers are vetted by helloDarwin staff. Once a project is approved by the platform, service providers receive notification of the opportunity which details the job parameters and budget. They are then matched to the work request via an algorithm that determines the three best-suited service providers for the posting.
helloDarwin is a free service for clients trying to find the right partners to help them complete their projects, while a fee is required from service providers to bid on assignments.
